Prepared Near the Source
Alaskan king crab legs are generally cooked shortly after harvest, then rapidly chilled or frozen to protect their flavor and texture during transport.
King crab is already cooked when it reaches the customer, so home preparation is primarily reheating. Gentle steaming, baking or grilling warms the meat while helping it remain moist.
Preparation
Preparation
King crab legs: steam
- Add 2 cups of water and 1 tablespoon of salt to a pot and bring it to a boil.
- Place the pre-cooked crab legs and your preferred seasoning on a rack over the boiling water, then cover.
- Steam for approximately 10 to 15 minutes after the water returns to a boil.
Boil
- Fill a large saucepan halfway with cold water, bring it to a boil and add 1 tablespoon of salt and your preferred seasoning.
- Add the crab legs, reduce the heat to medium and simmer for approximately 12 to 15 minutes.
Grill
- Brush the crab legs with olive oil on all sides to prevent sticking.
- Grill at 275°F for approximately 10 minutes per side.
Bake
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and arrange the crab legs in a single layer in a shallow baking pan.
- Add approximately ⅛ inch of hot water and cover the pan with aluminum foil.
- Bake for approximately 15 to 20 minutes.

Jumbo Alaskan King Crab Legs for a Full Table
Jumbo is the grade we recommend when the guest list is longer than the recipe. Each leg carries a serious portion of firm, briny-sweet meat, yet stays manageable enough that everyone at the table can crack and pull without a lesson. It is the size that turns a birthday, a holiday, or an ordinary Saturday into a crab dinner people bring up months later.
Planning the Spread
Treat jumbo king crab as the center of the meal rather than one dish among many. Melted butter, lemon, corn, and red potatoes are all the company it needs. Because the legs arrive fully cooked and frozen from Alaskan waters, the timeline stays easy even with a crowd in the kitchen: a steamer basket over boiling water, four to six minutes for thawed legs, eight to nine straight from the freezer, and dinner is on. Anyone who likes it cold can set a few legs aside to chill for cracked crab with cocktail sauce.
What the Reviews Keep Repeating
This grade holds a 4.9-star average across 21 reviews, and two themes come up again and again: orders arrive exactly as promised, and first-time buyers are startled by how big "jumbo" actually is. Many of the people ordering these legs have been buying from us for years, which we take as the only endorsement that matters.
If Whole Legs Are Not a Must
Feeding an even bigger crowd than expected? Our broken mixed-size Alaskan king crab legs serve the same meat in a less photogenic form. And if you are weighing crab against crab before committing, start with our breakdown of snow crab clusters versus Dungeness crab legs. When the table is full and the occasion is real, though, jumbo king crab is hard to argue with.
