The House Blends

Start with the classic Harbour House Crab Seasoning, a proprietary blend in the JO and Old Bay tradition. The garlic blend rounds it toward savory, the extra-hot sharpens it considerably, and the seafood seasoning is the all-purpose shaker that ends up on shrimp, fries, corn and eggs. Undecided? One warning from experience: once a shaker reaches the stove, it rarely stays a crab-only seasoning for long.

A classic crab blend is designed to cling to steamed shells, while seafood seasoning can move more easily to shrimp, fries, vegetables and eggs. Garlic and extra-hot versions change intensity without changing the core use. Start lightly when seasoning peeled seafood or finished food because the blend reaches the meat directly; shell-on steaming often uses a more visible coating. Store dry shakers tightly closed away from heat and moisture.
