Made to Swim
Blue crabs have three pairs of walking legs plus flattened rear legs shaped like paddles for swimming.
The flattened rear legs distinguish swimming crabs from many other crab families. Combined with their blue claws and olive-blue shell, they give the Maryland blue crab its recognizable appearance.
Those paddle legs are easy to recognize in crab artwork and are one of the details that make the species such a distinctive Chesapeake symbol.

The Blue Summer Tee for Ninety-Degree Crab Weather
Crabs are a hot-weather food. The pot steams, the sun leans on the deck, and the picking takes hours, so the shirt you wear matters more than you might think. This summer tee is the lightweight answer: an easy blue shirt that stays comfortable from the first dozen to the last claw.
Named for the Season, Colored for the Crab
Blue is the natural choice for a crab house tee; it is the color the whole species is named for. This shade also sits deep enough to shrug off the occasional dusting of seasoning, which nobody picking crabs in July should have to worry about.
Lightweight by Design
The summer cut is deliberately thin and breezy. This is the tee for boat days, beach walks, and long afternoons at a picnic table, not a layering piece. When the calendar flips and those same afternoons turn cold, the gray hoodie from the collection takes over the job.
Give It a Reason
A crab tee works best with crabs on the table. If you are planning the kind of afternoon this shirt was made for, our guide to throwing a Maryland-style crab feast covers everything from lining the table to timing the corn. Order the tee now and let it break in before the season peaks; it only gets better with wear.
