Made to Swim
Blue crabs have three pairs of walking legs plus flattened rear legs shaped like paddles for swimming.
The flattened rear legs distinguish swimming crabs from many other crab families. Combined with their blue claws and olive-blue shell, they give the Maryland blue crab its recognizable appearance.
Those paddle legs are easy to recognize in crab artwork and are one of the details that make the species such a distinctive Chesapeake symbol.

Navy and Burnt Orange: the Boldest Hoodie in the Collection
Most of the iLoveCrabs lineup keeps its voice down. Not this one. Burnt orange print against a navy hoodie sweatshirt is the strongest color pairing we offer, and it turns a cozy layer into the piece people notice first at the table.
Colors That Forgive a Feast
Navy is the working choice for anyone who actually eats at the tables they dress for. Seasoning dust, a stray drip of butter, the fallout of a hard-swung mallet: a dark ground absorbs the evidence, while the burnt orange emblem keeps glowing through all of it.
Built for the Overlap Season
Hoodie weather and late crab season share the same weeks on the Maryland calendar: those October Saturdays with football on a radio somewhere and a bushel going quiet on the table. This is the sweatshirt for that overlap. Sizes here run from adult Small to 2X-Large; if you want the same idea at a lower volume, see the print on our gray hoodie instead.
Feed the Crowd You Attract
A hoodie this visible gathers people, and people need feeding. Our guide to building a crab feast people talk about all winter handles the logistics: the covering, the tools, the quantities per picker. Get the navy on your back and the crabs on the paper, and October takes care of itself.
