Should I order my crabs live or steamed?
 

Why order live? 

  • Because you are going to make an afternoon of it.  You want to invite some friends over and have them enjoy the entire experience with you. 
  • Because you are okay with a possible 15% mortality rate with your order. 

-  How we handle your live order:

  1. We handle your crabs late in the day (we are located next to a FedEx hub).
  2. We provide extra crabs in every live order to help reduce the mortality rate.
  3. We sort through the crabs and pick the liveliest. 
  4. Your crabs are carefully placed into our Styrofoam containers along with gel packs.
  5. Have a question about handling live crabs when they arrive at your doorstep?  Call us 7 days / week.

- You can expect up to a 15% morality rate when ordering live crabs. Should you experience a higher mortality rate:

  1. Keep the crabs (we may ask you to ship them back to us). 
  2. Call us the same day your order arrived (we are available 7 days/week).

Why order steamed?

  • You like the convenience of having Harbour House Crabs steam your crabs with our special seasoning.  You also want to reduce the risk taken on when ordering live crabs.

- How we handle your steamed order:

  1. We steam you crabs late in the afternoon (we are located next to a FedEx hub).
  2. We use a proprietary method to cool your crabs prior to packaging.
  3. Your crabs are carefully placed into our Styrofoam containers along with gel packs.
  4. Have a question about handling your steamed crabs when they arrive at your doorstep?  We are available 7 days/week.
